Leesburg 8U Championship Tournament
(June 12, 2008) - The Ponytail Posse captured the Leesburg Girls Softball 8U Tournament Championship this past weekend at Freedom Park in Leesburg. The Posse finished the season 14-2, by avenging there only two losses of the season and a loss in last years championship to the Daffodils.
The Posse overcame a 10 run, 5th inning deficit to win the game 14-13 on a two out bases loaded single to win the game. The game was played in less than ideal conditions with the thermometer reading near 100 degrees and a heat index of 105 degree. “I am so proud of my girls they never gave up. They were down by 10 runs facing the mercy rule and they fought back and won the game. I have coached most of these girls for the past four years and to watch them grow as players and as people has been a great honor”. said Dave Carver, Posse Coach
The Posse will be moving up to the 10U Division much to the delight of the other 8U teams in the fall. Coach Carver expects the transition to be smooth as they played two 10U teams this season winning one during the regular season by an impressive margin and scoring 11 runs against the 10U Lady Bugs (Regular Season and Tournament Champions) in an exhibition game.
Coach Carver was recently named Co-Head Coach of LGSL’s new 10U travel program The Revolution. He has assured the Posse family he will continue as there coach for the near future.
