The Belmont Ridge 6th grade boys basketball team lost another hard fought game 32-28 to Harper Park. James Manning led the Riverhawks with 8 pts. Boochy Dunne and Donte Lane added 6 pts each.

The Belmont Ridge Boys 7th grade basketball team stormed to win in week seven over Harmony Middle School 54-36. Belmont led from the opening tip, never trailing throughout the game. Solid play from all the Belmont players contributed to the win. Elijah Brown led all players with 16 points, followed by Selwyn Lawrence with 14 points. For the second week in a row, nine players pulled down rebounds with Selwyn leading the way with 6. Elijah Brown also led the team in steals with 8 of the 21 that Belmont had in the game. The team has no game scheduled for next week.

The Belmont Ridge Boys 8 Travel Team played their best game of the season against Western Loudoun’s Harmony Intermediate, defeating the Hornets by a score of 58-38. Michael Hamrick lead the way with the year’s first double-double, pulling 11 boards and knocking down 18 points, 6 of those points from the 3-point arc. Other players in double digits were Joey Kim with 14 points and Jack Wohlfert with 10 points. Other contributors on offense were Blake Snider with 6 points, Troy Boker and Mike Tompkins with 4 points and Mick Dolan with a bucket. The River Hawks dominated on the boards, out-rebounding the Hornets by a 37 to18 margin. The River Hawks hope to continue their winning ways in 2 weeks when they go back to their home court in Ashburn, taking on Sterling Middle School.

In an exciting game, the Belmont Ridge 6th grade girls basketball team lost to Smart's Mill 25 - 22. After falling behind early, Belmont Ridge stormed back and the game was tied at half time. Belmont Ridge had the lead for most of the second half, only to lose it in the final minute. Belmont scoring was lead by Megan Della Penna, Megan Windland, Erin Windland, and Savannah Gallegos.
