Belmont Ridge Defeats Eagle Ridge

7th Grade Girls

(Dec 27, 2007) -The Eagle Ridge Girls 7th Grade basketball team suffered their first loss of the season, falling to crosstown rival, Belmont Ridge 39-24.   Both teams started a little nervous, but the Eagles jumped out to an 8-2 lead.  The Riverhawks clawed their way back into the game during the 2nd quarter, but the Eagles still had a slim lead at halftime.   The Riverhawks controlled the 3rd quarter, holding the Eagles scoreless for most of the period.  The 4th quarter was a battle, but the Riverhawks refused to give up the lead.   In the final minutes, the Eagles had to take some chances, giving the Riverhawks the opportunity to put the game out of reach.  The Eagles scoring was provided by Murielle Tiernan, Alyssa Papazian, Tori Panzica, Emily Person, and Amanda Burcak.
